This page explains what personal information pldaniels.com ("this site", "we", "us") collects, why, and what happens to it. It covers the main site, the FlexBV software pages, the repairs service, and the parts shop.
Who is responsible for this data
Paul L. Daniels, trading as pldaniels.com (ABN 19 500 721 806), Charters Towers, QLD, Australia. This is a sole-trader operation — there is no separate data-processing entity, and no data is sold to third parties.
What we collect, and why
Browsing the site
Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, timestamp) are recorded automatically by the hosting environment for security and troubleshooting purposes, as with virtually any web server.
Google Analytics
Some pages (currently the repairs section) load Google Analytics (gtag.js) to measure visits and page usage. This sets cookies and sends usage data to Google. No advertising or remarketing tags are used — analytics only. You can block this with a browser ad-blocker or Google's own opt-out extension without affecting your ability to use the site.
Session cookie (repairs pages)
The repairs section starts a PHP session for each visit (a temporary session identifier cookie). This is used only to keep the repair-request workflow functioning correctly and is not used to track you across visits or other sites.
Repair requests
If you submit a repair request, we collect the details you provide about yourself and your device (e.g. name, contact details, device model, fault description) so we can assess the job, issue a Job ID, and correspond with you about the repair. This information is used only to carry out and manage the repair, and is retained for as long as reasonably needed for job records, warranty, and accounting purposes.
Shop purchases (PayPal)
The shop uses PayPal Buttons for checkout. Payment details are handled entirely by PayPal — we do not see or store your card/PayPal account credentials. PayPal sends us transaction and shipping information via their IPN (Instant Payment Notification) system (e.g. buyer name, shipping address, order details, transaction ID) so that your order can be fulfilled and posted. Handling of your payment data by PayPal is governed by PayPal's own privacy policy.
FlexBV software
FlexBV checks for the latest available version when it starts. This check contacts our server to compare version numbers; it does not transmit any files, board data, or personal information from your machine, and it can be disabled in the software's settings if you'd prefer it not to run. FlexBV does not otherwise phone home.
USB-C meter
The USB-C meter hardware does not perform any phone-home or network activity at all.
What we don't do
- No newsletter or email marketing list — we don't collect email addresses for marketing.
- No advertising cookies or ad networks.
- No sale or trade of personal information to third parties.
Third parties involved
- Google Analytics — anonymised-where-possible usage analytics.
- PayPal — payment processing and order/shipping details for shop purchases.
- Australia Post — shipping of physical goods and repaired devices, using the address you provide.
Data retention
Repair job records and transaction records are kept for as long as required for warranty support and Australian tax/accounting record-keeping obligations. Analytics data is retained per Google's standard retention settings.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, or request deletion of information we no longer need to retain for legal or accounting reasons, by contacting us using the details below.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is intended for trade/business use (electronics repair professionals and repair customers) and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the site or services. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision.
